Loanhead Miners boasts a range of Sub Sections for Members to enjoy, many of which are of a sports, recreational and leisure nature. 

Wynding Down Project 

Originally funded through the Community Safety Partnership this Project has gone on to access a grant from the National Lottery Awards for all programme, ensuring the excellent youth diversionary activities continue into 2008. 

This grant has allowed the Project to run youth specific activities (such as snow-boarding, ice skating, fly fishing), employ youth sessional workers, carry out Street Work sessions around Loanhead and build partnerships with relevant agencies.

 

 

Inter-generational work has been one of the most challenging areas to cover but the Drop In sessions have been very well received by the young people and the Club.

Loanhead Miners Youth Football Club 

The Youth Football Club or ‘Boys Club’ as it was known is one of the most successful football programmes in Midlothian.  

Young up and coming players have gone on to sign deals with teams such as Hearts and Sheffield United. 

Over 200 young people attend training sessions and games on a weekly basis. 

Team development continues to grow with the Club aiming to include female teams in the new season.

Tea Dance

  

A weekly Tea Dance runs every Wednesday afternoon in the Croft Suite.  With bingo, live music, raffles and buffet a great time is had by all for £1, plus bingo and raffle tickets.
