The Loanhead Miners’ Community Centre is an excellent facility located in the heart of Loanhead, thanks to a pro-active and energetic Development Officer lots of people are noticing how much busier the Centre is becoming. Demand for the Community Centre is increasing all the time and we are delighted to welcome new groups and previous users regularly. NHS Lothian, Healthy Respect recently used the Centre for a Training Day in February 2008. Opened in 2005 the Community Centre is a welcoming and flexible facility available to community groups, Members, businesses and public sector agencies to name but a few. The Centre houses a range of learning, social and recreational activities for people of Loanhead and wider Midlothian. The facilities are available for hire at reasonable rates. A bright, modern and spacious building it has a versatile Main Hall and Croft Suite.

Funded by the Big Lottery Fund the Development Officer employed in April 2007 has certainly made an impact. New grants have led to new activity and new users of the facilities are being welcomed regularly. Activities are noticeably on the increase and the atmosphere around the Community Centre is very positive. Current users include Flex dance, YogaBugs, Jewel and Esk Valley College, Midlothian Council, Midlothian Community Health Partnership, NHS Lothian and many others. Activities vary from Dancing to Yoga to Computing Classes to Line Dancing. Some users prefer to use the space for training days, team building exercises and open days. The Development Officer Contact details can be found on the Contact Us page. For bigger community activities or conferences the Croft Suite is also available during the day and some evenings. This excellent facility will accommodate up to 120 people.
Previous events include Health Taster evenings, conferences, seminars and information days. Ample free parking means that Loanhead Miners is an attractive venue for a variety of reasons, it is fully accessible and staff are willing to help users feel as comfortable as possible.
Every Wednesday afternoon a Tea Dance takes place in the Croft Suite with live music, bingo, raffles and lunch. Further details con be found on the Sub Sections page. If you are planning an even bigger event, we can accommodate up to 300 people in the Main Hall of the Main Club. With a stage, state of the art technology and comfortable seating this room could be the ideal venue for your largest conference to date.
